Concrete & Foundations
Licensed concrete and foundation work on the San Francisco Peninsula: new foundations, driveways, patios, walkways, and stamped or colored concrete, poured to last.
Concrete and foundation work is the flatwork and structural base that holds up your home, driveway, patio, and walkways. Angel Suarez Construction is a licensed California B contractor, CSLB #1085926, and has poured and repaired concrete on the Peninsula since 2021. Good base prep, steel reinforcement, and slow curing are what make concrete last for decades.
Concrete and foundation services we handle
We pour and repair concrete for homes across the Peninsula. As a full-service general contractor, we can also tie new concrete into a bigger job, like a home addition or ADU that needs a fresh slab or footings. Our concrete work covers:
- New foundations, footings, and slab work
- Driveways, patios, and walkways
- Stamped and colored decorative concrete
- Foundation repair and crack repair
What does a concrete foundation do?
A foundation is the concrete base that carries the full weight of your house. It spreads that weight onto the soil so the home stays level and does not sink or shift. Most Peninsula homes sit on a slab or on footings and a stem wall. A strong, level foundation keeps floors flat, doors square, and walls crack free for the life of the home.
How do we pour concrete that lasts?
Lasting concrete starts long before the pour. We set solid forms, compact a gravel base, and add steel rebar or wire mesh so the slab resists cracking. Then we pour the right concrete mix for the job and finish the surface by hand. Curing is the last step. We let the concrete cure slowly so it reaches full strength instead of drying too fast and cracking.
Driveways, patios, and walkways for Peninsula homes
Flatwork is the concrete you walk and drive on every day. A new driveway needs the right thickness and a solid base to carry car weight without cracking. Patios and walkways take lighter loads but still need good drainage. From older homes in South San Francisco to newer builds nearby, we slope and seal every pour so water runs away from your foundation, not toward it.
Does stamped and colored concrete hold up outside?
Yes. Stamped and colored concrete is real structural concrete with a decorative finish pressed and dyed into the top. It gives you the look of stone, brick, or tile at a lower cost, and it holds up to Bay Area weather. We seal it to protect the color and shed rain. A reseal every few years keeps it looking new.
What are the signs your foundation needs work?
Watch for a few clear signs. Cracks wider than a coin, doors and windows that stick, sloping or bouncy floors, and gaps where walls meet the ceiling all point to foundation movement. Not every crack is serious, but growing cracks are worth a look. If your home shifted in an earthquake, we can pair the repair with a seismic retrofit to bolt the house to its foundation.

Cost of concrete & foundations in San Bruno
Published 2026 cost guides put most Bay Area concrete flatwork (driveways, patios, walkways) at about $12 to $25 per square foot, with stamped or colored finishes and structural foundation work running higher. These are market ranges as of 2026, not our quote.
What moves the price:
- Square footage: bigger driveways, patios, and slabs cost more overall but often less per square foot
- Site access: tight yards, slopes, and hard to reach areas add labor and time
- Finish: plain gray concrete costs less than stamped, colored, or exposed aggregate work
- Demolition: removing and hauling away an old driveway or slab adds cost
- Reinforcement and base prep: rebar, wire mesh, and a deeper footing or thicker slab raise the price
- Soil and drainage: soft or sloping ground may need extra grading or a stronger foundation
Every job is different, so we give you an exact price up front, and you approve it before any work starts.

FAQ
Concrete & Foundations, common questions
Where can I find concrete and foundation work near me in San Bruno?

We have worked on Peninsula homes since 2021 and are licensed, CSLB #1085926. Call (415) 988-1431 for a free written estimate. We also serve South San Francisco, San Mateo, Burlingame, and Millbrae.
Does stamped or colored concrete cost more than plain concrete?
Yes. Stamped and colored concrete costs more than plain gray concrete because it takes extra steps to press the pattern and add color. Published 2026 guides put Bay Area flatwork around $12 to $25 per square foot, and decorative finishes sit at the higher end. The final price depends on the size, the pattern, and how easy the area is to reach. We give a free written estimate.
Does new concrete foundation work need a permit and inspection?
Yes. New foundations, footings, and most structural concrete work need a building permit and a city inspection before the pour is covered. As a licensed California B contractor, CSLB #1085926, we pull the permit and meet the inspector on site. The inspector checks the forms, rebar, and depth so your foundation is built to code and passes.
How long does a new concrete driveway or patio take?
Most home driveways and patios take about two to five days of work. We spend the first day or two on demolition, forms, base prep, and rebar. The pour itself is one day. After that, concrete needs about seven days before you walk on it and around a week more before you park a car, so it cures to full strength.
Can you pour new concrete over an old driveway?
Usually we do not. Pouring fresh concrete over a cracked old slab often leads to new cracks in the same spots. In most cases we remove the old concrete, fix the base, and pour a new slab that lasts. Sometimes a thin overlay works for a sound surface. We check the old slab first and tell you honestly which path fits.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?
A standard home driveway should be about four inches thick over a compacted gravel base. If you park a heavy truck or RV, five to six inches is safer. We also add rebar or wire mesh so the slab holds together as the ground moves. The right thickness and base prep are what stop a driveway from cracking early.
